Explosive event showdown at the Swatch Rocket Air in Thun, Switzerland. On Saturday the top-classed international riders were fighting for precious points on the Freeride Mountain Bike Worldtour (FMB) and a prize money over CHF 10’000. This year’s winner is Sam Pilgrim from Great Britain. With his huge superflip over the big air, a 540 on the step-up and a 720 on the corner he impressed the judges and reached the highest score. Martin Söderström, Sweden, took the second place, followed by Brett Rheeder, Canada. Numerous side events completed Switzerland’s biggest dirtjump contest.
An explosive start at the Swatch Rocket Air 2013. Winning crew of the first team competition at a FMB Worldtour Event with a stoking Rapid Fire is Team Scandinavia. Winner of the Best Trick Award is Louis Reboul from France. Today the slopestyle final is taking place at 20 p.m. CET. The 15 best riders out of 28 will be nominated by the judges. Today’s show will be broadcasted live on the internet.
Things have been changing during the last week for the ice rink in Thun. Where there used to be ice hockey players turning rounds and ice princesses practicing their spins, all is currently turning around biking, slopestyle mountain biking to be more precise. Only a few days are left until the Swatch Rocket Air 2013 is going to take place. The preparations are running at full speed, over 100 helpers are using more than 2000 Euro pallets to build the set. The set up for the two-day event will take a total of ten days. Alongside to the bike contest, a FMB Silver event, many other attractions are offered. With "Swatch Rapid Fire" a world premiere is taking place since it is the first team contest to be realized within the FMB world tour.
As soon as the ice in the arena of Thun is melting the Flying Metal Crew will redesign the terrain into a huge bike course. The arena will be in the hands and wheels of the world’s best mountainbikers who will fight for a prize money over CHF 10’000.-. In addition they will battle for important points regarding the Freeride Mountainbike Worldtour. With Swatch as a the new title-sponsor and a new course design built in the dimensions of an FMX takeoff the Swatch Rocket Air 2013 is reaching a new level.
